Southern Illinois University
The SIU Alt. Cert Teacher Program has the same basic
requirements for admission that other alternative certification programs
adopted from the 1999 Illinois legislation have. A bachelors degree
with a 2.75 G.P.A. minimum is required for the program, as is a minimum of 5
years work experience in the subject area.
The program includes a year teaching internship. Students
most take an active role in securing their placement for this internship.
