4. Input of Friends and Counselors. You have now looked at your
self, the college programs, and the potential job market.
One other very good way to ascertain if you are moving in the right
direction is the counsel of friends, colleagues, and counselors. It
may be too sensitive an issue to bring up, but if there are some friends or
counselors in your world who you would feel safe in discussing this with,
bring them into the conversation...
Listen to them openly and reflect on what their response is to your
thoughts of changing professions and going into teaching. You want honest
feedback. If you are feeling a calling to teaching, those close to you
should be able to see that gifting in you.
